Hospitality Supervision Level 3 NVQ / Diploma

This NVQ/Diploma is work based and is designed to reflect the skills and knowledge of people who work in the hospitality industry.  

What qualification will I achieve?
National Vocational Qualification/ Diploma Level 3. This qualification is part of the qualification credit framework.

How long is the course?
The qualification is taken over 9-12 months depending on each individual.

What subjects will I study?
Five mandatory units as follows (34 credits)

  • Provide leadership for your team.
  • Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
  • Contribute to the control of resources.
  • Maintain health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment.
  • Lead a team to improve customer service.

In addition students must complete 3 optional units ( 11 credits)
 
Group A

  • Supervise food production operations
  • Supervise functions
  • Supervise food services
  • Supervise drink services
  • Supervise housekeeping services
  • Supervise portering and concierge services
  • Supervise reception services
  • Supervise reservations and booking services
  • Contribute to promote hospitality services and products

Group B

  • Contribute to the development of recipes and menus
  • Supervise off site food delivery services
  • Supervise cellar drinks and storage operations
  • Manage the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods
  • Supervise the wine store/cellar and dispense counter
  • Supervise vending services
  • Supervise linen services
  • Monitor and solve customer services problems
  • Improve the customer relationship
  • Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
  • Support the use of technological equipment in hospitality
  • Supervise practices for handling payments
  • Contribute to the development of the wine list
  • Manage the environmental impact of your team
  • Contribute to the selection of staff for activities
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene practice is followed in the preparation and serving of food and drink
  • Lead meetings

How will I be assessed?
The NVQ is assessed on practical aptitude and a portfolio of work.
