Health & Social Care Diploma Level 3

The Diploma is a work-based qualification which covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a broad range of health and social care settings.  It is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care and you can choose one of the following pathways that suits your role:

  • Working with people with Dementia
  • Working with people with Learning Disabilities
  • Working with children and young people

What qualification will I achieve?

City & Guilds Level 3 in Diploma in Health & Social Care

How long is the course?

The Diploma is work-based and is designed to reflect the skills and knowledge of people who work in caring activities .The qualification is taken over 12 months depending on individual need.

What are the entry requirements?

To take the Level 3 qualification you must be working in a care setting and have some supervisory responsibilities in your workplace.  

How will I learn?

You are usually employed for at least 16 hours per week. To gain this qualification, you need to show you have a particular set of skills. You will work with your assessor to identify your current skills and find the best way to gain new skills.

You will also:

  • Receive tuition to support the underpinning knowledge required for your Diploma
  • Have the opportunity to work towards additional qualifications relevant to your employment
  • Receive regular monitoring and assessment

What will I study?

Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 3.
To achieve this qualification learners must achieve a minimum of 58 credits for a level 3.  You will achieve 9 mandatory units and choose a further 7-8 optional units made up of knowledge and competence skills.

How will I be assessed?

The Diploma is assessed on practical aptitude, a portfolio of work and external assessment.

What opportunities will this lead to?

Progression from Level 3 to Level 4. Progression into Higher Education onto a degree course.
