Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce

What qualification will I achieve?

Certificate for the Children and Young People’s workforce (CYPW)

How long is the course?

This is a 12 month course and learners are required to attend college one evening session per fortnight.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have a placement within a nursery, crèche, school or pre-school setting. You may be required to update your numeracy & literacy skills to a level 2. Enhanced CRB check.

How will I learn?

Learning will be done mostly in your work placement, working alongside experienced practitioners.

What subjects will I study?

  • Introduction to communication
  • Introduction to personal development
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion
  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguard the welfare of children and young people
  • Maintain and support relationships with children

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through observation in the workplace, professional discussion and oral and written questions.
Completion of portfolio.

What opportunities will this lead to?

Progression to Level 3 CYPW.
