Microsoft Excel Courses (Distance learning)
These Novice Excel courses which will introduce you to the various functions and features that the program has to offer including; the screen, the basic spreadsheet, formulas, functions, charts and formatting cells.
These courses form part of our suite of ICT training courses which includes Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
What qualification will I achieve?
Delegates will receive a college certificate of completion demonstrating that they have completed the relevant training.
How long is the course?
This course can be completed in 10 hours but as a distance learning package you can take as long as you need.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements. This course is intended for those who are new to Excel or who have a limited working knowledge of the application.
How will I learn?
Delegates will progress through a work book and CD and will have access to a tutor via email.
What subjects will I study?
Microsoft Excel Novice
The course includes the following;
- The Screen; tabs, ribbons Highlighting, Customising Icons & Toolbars
- The Basic Spreadsheet: typing in text, changing information in a cell, clearing a cell, deleting a row/column, modifying margins, find, find and replace, save a spreadsheet, centring headings, column and row widths, auto-fit width of columns, filling, currency, decimal positions
- Calculations: to calculate VAT, to show formulae
- Sheet: to change alignment, themes, printing and print preview, previewing, page, margins, headers and footers
- More Formulae & Functions: Average, Count, Maximum & Minimum
- Advanced Formatting: Text Wrap, Sorting, naming your sheet
- Creating a Chart: Charts, Formatting a graph/chart, pie charts, drawing tools
- Linking: linked spreadsheets, multiple worksheets, further linking in spreadsheets.

- Create your own Toolbar

- Conditional Formatting
- Pivot Tables
- Changing a Pivot Table
- Refresh Data on a Pivot Table
- Graph from Pivot
How will I be assessed?
Through the completion of a range of exercises.
