Microsoft Excel

These short, four-hour programs form part of our IT training suite. Courses are available at three levels to suit new, experienced and advanced users in the use of PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

What qualification will I achieve?
Delegates will receive a college certificate of attendance demonstrating that they have received the relevant training.

How long is the course?
This is a four hour programme and is typically delivered in one afternoon or evening session.

How will I learn?
This course is based around demonstration and practical work to provide hands on experience.

What subjects will I study?
The courses are offered at three levels including the following;

Introduction to Excel

  • Enter data into an existing spreadsheet
  • Save existing spreadsheets
  • Cut, copy and paste data between cells
  • Format text using appropriate techniques
  • Edit and delete cell content
  • Apply two formulae and one function
  • Create a basic chart

MS Excel for Everyday Users

  • Expand and format an existing spreadsheet
  • Produce two different charts
  • Format cell content and rename worksheets
  • Add and delete rows and columns
  • Sort and Filter data
  • Create a basic hyperlink
  • Understand and apply three examples of using formulae
  • Select and apply two functions

MS Excel for Advanced Users

  • Create, name and save a new spreadsheet
  • Use four different cell formats
  • Create an advanced graph
  • Use both relative and absolute cell references
  • Understand data validation
  • Use and apply advanced formulas and functions
  • Protect cells and workbook

How will I be assessed?
Through completion of practical exercises and tasks.

Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs, the quoted fee includes all relevant registration, exam fees and course book(s).
