Microsoft Access Courses (Distance Learning)

These Access Distance Learning courses will further develop your existing skills and enable you to fully use Access in the workplace.

The Microsoft Access Distance Learning courses form part of our suite of ICT training which includes Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel courses along with Pivot Tables, Charts & Graphs and Access Queries workshops. 

What qualification will I achieve?

Delegates will receive a college certificate of completion demonstrating that they have completed the relevant training.

How long is the course?

This course can be completed in 10 hours but as a distance learning package you can take as long as you need.
 
What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements.  This course is intended for those who are new to Excel or who have a limited working knowledge of the application.

How will I learn?

Delegates will progress through a work book and CD and will have access to a tutor via email.

What subjects will I study?

Microsoft Access Novice Course
This course includes the following;

  • The Database: Designing a Database, the Database Structure, Creating & Saving a Database, Creating a Report, Creating a table, Primary key, Sorting the Database.
  • Filters: Filter by selection, Filter by form, Advanced Filter/Sort
  • Queries: Syntax, SQL View, Sort in Query, View Query
  • Editing: Re-naming fields, Moving Fields, Renaming table/query/report, Deleting table/query/report, Changing Data Type, Adding a Field, Adding a header or footer to a report
  • Forms: Editing a Form
  • Mail-merge: Mail-merge from Word, Mail-merge from Access
  • Importing: tables from Access, tables from Excel
  • Indexing: Removing an index, view indexed fields
  • Relationships: Creating a relationship between tables

Microsoft Access Experienced Course
This course includes the following;

  • Creating a Database
  • Tables: Importing Tables, Linking tables from Excel, a Table from Word, a table from Word into Access, Import/copy table
  • Relationships: Office Links, Relationships, Primary Key, Types of Relationships
  • Referential Integrity
  • Columns: Hiding, Freezing, Un-hiding, Un-freezing
  • Queries: Expression builder, Operators, Wildcards, Multi-table queries, Append Query, Delete query/Selective delete query, Update query, Crosstab query wizard, Charts in form/report, Using a totals row in queries, using expressions to create new fields in queries, parameter query
  • Forms: Sub data sheets, Forms with sub-forms, Macros, Form design, Command buttons, Switchboard, Opening database with switchboard
  • Compacting a database
  • Password protecting a database

How will I be assessed?

Through the completion of a range of exercises.
