Dealing with Difficult Situations
This Dealing With Difficult Situations course is designed to help front office and front line staff, such as sales teams, develop their skills in recognizing and dealing with difficult/aggressive behaviour.
What qualification will I achieve?
A Furness College Certificate of Attendance.
How long is the course?
One day.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal educational requirements but a good standard of literacy is required so that participants can participate fully in group discussions.
How will I learn?
Through workshops and discussions.
What subjects will I study?
- Recognising profiles of difficult people and developing strategies for handling them
- Pre-empting challenging situations and techniques to avoid escalation
- Identification of personality types and how they interact or may clash
- Handling aggressive behavior and developing assertive skills
- Developing specific strategies for the resolution of different conflict situations
How will I be assessed?
There are no formal assessment procedures.

Furness College offers a suite of Office Skills/Management courses. Participants can discuss the most appropriate progression route with their tutor.
