Book-Keeping & Accounts City & Guilds Level 1 Award Accountancy

Book-Keeping & Accounts City & Guilds Level 1 Award

The qualification is aimed at people seeking a first qualification in bookkeeping and accounts. It is a single subject which provides a foundation upon which to progress within this particular area of study. This bookkeeping and accounting syllabus is a useful complement to the study of business finance.
The Bookkeeping and Accounts Award offers the opportunity for candidates to study the fundamentals of bookkeeping and accounts in the context of a small, sole trader business. It concentrates on basic core areas which are met on a day to day basis in the accounting environment of any business and which underpin future studies in accounting.
The aim of the level 1 qualification is to provide candidates with an introduction to bookkeeping practices and process source documents that underpin accurate record keeping.
Candidates will carry out the following;

  • Check and process documents involved in financial record keeping
  • Develop skills to carry out routine book-keeping processes
  • Develop underpinning knowledge of book-keeping principles
  • Prepare statements as a preliminary to financial control

Candidates who are studying Computerised Accounts Level 1 with the college will find it useful to study Book-keeping and Accounts Levels 1 and 2 in parallel, to enhance their background understanding of the subject and theories.
