This course will provide an employer with the benefit of having the assurance that employees on their sites have achieved a qualification that satisfies minimum requirements in terms of health and safety for construction skills workers.

What qualification will I achieve?

Candidates who pass the Health and Safety test are eligible to apply for a CSCS identification card.

How long is the course?

2 hours plus exam

Exam only

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements, although students will find the course more beneficial if they have some experience of the workplace. (The level of CSCS card you can apply for will be dependant on previous skills and experience).

How will I learn?

Learning is based in the classroom and is delivered through the use of an interactive CD ROM.

What subjects will I study?

Subjects studied include site hazards, working at heights, using dangerous substances and understanding warning signs.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by a multiple choice online exam lasting 45 minutes.

What opportunities will this lead to?

CSCS is fast becoming the industry standard. Many contractors are now asking for all workers on their site to hold a CSCS card to prove their competence in their stated occupation and that they have health and safety awareness.

Are there any additional costs?

No. (Once you have passed the exam you need to apply directly to the CSCS for your identification card. There will be a charge payable for this.)
